The Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, the state agency that certifies police officer, on Wednesday voted unanimously to accept Schneider’s voluntary surrender.

If someone surrenders or is stripped of their AZ POST certification, they can’t be a law enforcement officer again in Arizona unless they get re-certified.

Bodycam footage of Schneider’s repeated use of a Taser on 39-year-old Johnny Wheatcroft, who was riding in a car with his wife, two young children and a family friend, prompted an FBI investigation after Gov. Doug Ducey said the initial investigation by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office was “whitewashed.”
