Shooting of Donnell Thompson, Jr.

In July of 2016, LA County Special Enforcement Bureau deputies shot and killed and unarmed civilian, 27 year-old Donnell Thompson, Jr., while searching for an armed suspect in a nearby car jacking incident.  Members of the SEB surrounded Mr. Thompson, a mentally disabled man, and then shot him from atop an armored vehicle with a high powered military style rifle.  The SEB is a unit similar to SWAT units found in other law enforcement agencies.

The family was awarded a settlement of over $1.5 million after motions were filed on behalf of the family by Brian Dunn of the Cochran Firm.
